Runway 15/33 Rehabilitation at EuroAirport
At EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, the main runway 15/33 had to be rehabilitated within a tightly scheduled timeframe, with demanding requirements for precision, coordination and execution. BBSoft® was proud to contribute to this exceptional infrastructure project in collaboration with the Walo Group.
Challenge
Precise execution under extreme time pressure.
A main runway cannot be closed indefinitely. Once flight operations are suspended, every process on site must run exactly as planned. For the construction teams, this meant working within a very limited timeframe while maintaining the highest level of accuracy. Digital data had to perform reliably in real-world conditions, enabling machines, personnel and materials to work together on a consistent and dependable data foundation.
Success depends on precision — not only what is built, but how precisely.
On an airport runway, elevations, gradients and surface geometry are not minor details. They determine whether construction can be carried out accurately, under control and on schedule.
This transformed technical specifications into practical construction data that could be used directly on site.

Planning detail
Large scale. Tight schedule. Reliable data.
The rehabilitation of Runway 15/33 was a project of impressive scale: • More than 38,000 m² of runway surface removed in less than 29 hours • More than 15,000 m³ of concrete demolished and reconstructed within less than two weeks • Up to 500 personnel working on site simultaneously during peak periods At this scale, there is little room for uncertainty. Any deviation can delay workflows, interrupt machine operations or result in costly rework.
Solution
Construction data the site team can rely on.
BBSoft® was used where precision and speed come together: in the digital preparation of data for construction execution.
The digital terrain models, pavement design points and quantity calculations helped to prepare the work in a structured manner and support efficient implementation on site. For a project of this scale, precise data is not an added benefit but a prerequisite for smooth construction processes.

BBSoft® helped to:
The software delivered practical data for every phase of execution — from machine control to quantity calculation.
This made the software a practical tool for precise execution under tight time constraints.
Turning digital data into renewed infrastructure.
The rehabilitation of Runway 15/33 renewed a key piece of airport infrastructure. The work was even completed ahead of schedule.
For BBSoft®, this project demonstrates the difference precise civil engineering data can make during construction execution. It supports machine control systems, provides transparency in quantity calculations and helps ensure the reliable delivery of complex construction projects.
Precise data makes complex construction projects manageable.
Whether for airport runways, transport infrastructure or other civil engineering projects, when time, quantities and accuracy matter, construction teams need digital tools they can rely on.
BBSoft® supports exactly that: providing the data that is needed on site.
